Voting with money - philanthropy and education policy

Public lecture by Professor Stephen Ball from Institute of Education, University College London.

Governments around the world are now keen to encourage the participant on new actors on the policy process and to experiment with new ways of doing policy and delivering education services.

The lecture will explore the increasing role of philanthropy and philanthropists in education policy with examples from the US, England, India and Denmark and consider the various consequences and effects of such involvements.

About the professor: Stephen Ball is Affiliated Professor at Section of Education, Department of Media, Cogniation and Communication, University of Copenhagen. He is Distinquished Service Professor of Sociology of Education, Institute of Education, University College London. He is also Managing Editor of Journal of Education Policy and member of the British Academy of the Humanities and Social Sciences.
