Creative Media Industries

An understanding of creative practices and of the structures of the media industries is important for understanding contemporary media cultures and their products. CMI focuses on the nature of the film and television industries as well as digital media.

The research priority area combines studies of cultural policy, media institutions, production cultures, distribution and exhibition practices, creative work and audiences with textual analysis of the works produced. Transnational industry structures and new modes of production, distribution and reception are crucial elements in the current digital and global media culture, and CMI explores the constant dynamics between change and continuity in the media industries from both national and international perspectives.
